Start with your photos

Skip the walkthrough and build as you go.

iPhone

Start with the steps below. Editing tools appear beneath the canvas; tap the active tool to hide or show its controls.

iPad

Use the same task steps. The sidebar gives you access to Layout Builder, Templates, and Projects. In a wide editor window, controls can sit alongside the canvas; narrower windows use the compact panel. A missing control may be inside a collapsed section or the page’s options.

Add photos or videos

  1. Tap Add Photos & Videos at the bottom of Home. It’s available in Layout Builder, Templates, and Projects.
  2. Select your photos or clips, then confirm your selection. Decks opens a project using your New Project Defaults.
  3. Open Layout to choose the page shape and arrangement. Open Frame to choose None if you want a borderless start, then add styling when you need it.

Choose your defaults

  1. In Settings → New Project Defaults, choose the template and layout used for this route and for Photos → Share → Decks.
  2. Editing a project does not change those defaults. You can skip the walkthrough without losing the look you prefer.

Add more later

  1. Use Add Photos in the editor to bring in more images. New photos follow the project’s layout and fill available photo slots before adding pages.
  2. Videos come from clips you choose to import. Adding a still photo does not turn it into a moving video.

Mac

Choose File → Import Photos and Videos… (Command-O). For an open project, use File → Add Photos and Videos… (Shift-Command-O), or File → Add from Photos Library…. Set New Project Template in Decks → Settings → General to choose the default design.
